I'm a second grade teacher... What's your super power?
A little about me, personally:
I am 31 years old and I live in Belmont, WI with my husband (Trevor) and two sons, Treyton (5 years old) and Cooper (3 years old). I met Trevor 11 years ago while attending UW Platteville, There, he graduated with his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education and played collegiate baseball. After graduating, getting married, and teaching elementary P.E. at Potosi School District for a year, he accepted a position within the Belmont School District where he now works as the Phy. Ed. teacher as well as the head varsity baseball coach.
When we get the chance, we love to fish! Be it off the shore, in a boat, or through the ice, fishing is one of our favorite hobbies. Three summers ago we also started camping as a family. So far, we LOVE it! We also both have a passion for sports. Playing sports since we were very young, and continuing to play to this day, we love any and all things dealing with athletics. Trevor has been coaching for the past 12 years, both high school and collegiate, and I also hope to one day, once the kids are older. For now, I'll stick to being the best mommy and teacher I can be! :)
A little about me, professionally:
I am originally from Muscoda, WI, where I graduated from high school in 2006. I then attended UW Platteville and received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education in the spring of 2012. That fall, I co-taught kindergarten in my hometown, but would accept a 2nd grade position in Platteville for the following year. It was then that I really fell in love with my job and co-workers. After three years in second grade, followed by a year in kindergarten, I am excited to be back in second grade again!!
In May of 2019, I received my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My husband also went back and earned his masters, so I'm very thankful that we have a partnership that allows this to happen.
A few years ago, I got a pillow from a student that still sits in my living room to this day. The pillow reads, 'Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning." Teaching is not an easy job but it is my passion. It can be demanding and draining at times, but it is also the most rewarding thing I've ever done (besides being a mom). I am always thankful for the opportunity to be a part of such a great school district with such positive people.
