Kattre's Korner
Learning together. Growing together.
We used the Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss's birthday as the perfect excuse to celebrate our love for reading and school by doing a bunch of fun activities in the morning. The kids got to work on their math skills with Mrs. Soots, make a Dr. Seuss door hanger with Mrs. Wernimont, watch Horton Hears a Who with Mrs. Walter, explore Ooblek with Mrs. Gile, and make a tasty snack Green Eggs and Ham (graham crackers, green frosting, and M&Ms) while listening to the story. They seemed to have a lot of fun and got to wear these awesome hats while they were in other rooms. Above is a picture of most of the kids before the groups started. Below is after all the groups got back from their fun! Lastly, we had a few minutes to spare before the fun of Read Across America Day began, so we did a song/dance. They are so good at following what the kids on the screen are doing! :) Enjoy this video!
Late February we had the NeCollins family visit our school with some pretty interesting friends. They brought some different animals preserved through their taxidermy business and let us look at and touch them! It was fun to see how the visit sparked some writing juices to flow in the afternoon.Occasionally we will pull out the Geo Blocks (which the kids love) and use the shapes to build masterpieces. Then we take a gallery walk and take a peek at what our friends created. You should hear the 'ooooh-ing' and 'aaaahhh-ing'! :) See if you can tell what some of these objects are supposed to be. Can you spot the cat and dog? How about the lizard? Dinosaur feet? We have some talented builders in kindergarten! |
