Here, we have Jayda, using the Wikki Stix to spell sight words during morning fine motor tubs. Next, is our new choice time center... THE CASTLE!!! :) The kids have been dying to get their turn in it. We read a really cute book about castles that amped them up to playing in it. The last few pictures are from a beautiful day of outside recess. :) Happy days!
First Kalila and Ariz are using our new Alligator Tweezers to pinch letter beads to spell our sight words. (tweezers were donated by the Dye family for Lauren's birthday) Dominic and James are showing how they used our new Wikki Stix (also donated by the Dye family) to form letters to spell sight words. Laney and Ayden are using silly scissors to cut out Easter eggs and then coloring them. Colin and Ilija are using super strong pincher fingers to open and pinch binder clips onto the edge of a container. (This is much harder for them than you'd think!) Corinne and Jayda are using stencils Lauryn Pennekamp brought in earlier this year to trace clothes onto paper and make a picture out of them. Lauren Dye and Kameron are using our new tweezers to grab beads and put them into the small holes of a parmesan cheese container. Kiana and Karson are cutting straws into tiny pieces to string patterns onto pipe cleaners as bracelets.
Just a few pictures of the kiddos dressed all fancy for the music program. We are so thankful for Mrs. Russell for all she's taught the kinders! I thought it went really well. We are so incredibly thankful to the UW Platteville Animal House (i.e. John Peterson) for visiting us to end our Animal Needs unit in science. He brought in lots of cool crawly bugs and animals!! We talked about omnivores, herbivores, insectivores, habitats, and even got to see an alligator skull!! Thanks you, Dr. Peterson! A whole month has gone by since I last posted on our blog. How is that possible?? I'm sorry for this but guys... this year is just FLYING BY!!! Being a mom, teacher, wife to a head coach...and just overall HUMAN isn't easy. I'm so thankful for class full of students who are sweet and hard working, as well as extremely supportive parents. It's hard to believe we only have 31 school days left!! March Morning TubsKarson, Colin, and Ilija are practicing eye-hand coordination and cutting practice while cutting on a variety of wavy lines. Kiana one day (and Ilija, Karson, and Colin another day) are using Q-tips to spell out sight words. Kalila is working hard to pinch out beads from a bag and putting them into a medicine container. She rolls the dice to tell her how many beads go in each compartment, then she closes that compartment and opens another to repeat the process. Jayda and Corinne are using hole punchers to punch out dots from construction paper. Then they take those dots and glue them onto a piece of paper to create a picture. Dominic is finding and pulling out buttons from the Therapy Putty. Kameron and Lauren Dye are using Q-tips to paint dots onto this picture of a house. Ayden and Laney are rolling dice to practice simple addition and eye-hand coordination. They roll twice, each number telling them how many buttons to string onto each side of the pipecleaner. , Those two groups are then added together to find out how many in all. Last is Zoey rolling out Play Dough worms to form letters. March Reading CentersIlija and Laney are working hard to spell out sight words, while Dominic, James, and Jayda are working together to sort out cards based on their beginning sound. Colin and other friends at the table are playing a matching game. They had to read the sentence and see if it matched the picture they chose. March Birthday BoyHappy 6th birthday Colin Harry!! March Diverse Readers WorkshopThis month's Diverse Readers Workshop was done in Arabic!! It was also Crazy Hat Day! :)
