Kattre's Korner
Learning together. Growing together.
Balloon Pop Activities, continued. On Monday, we had Stinky Feet Day where the kids got to take their shoes off if they wanted to, followed by our school picnic and a visit from Alyvia's cute bunny, Jaxen 2.0. :) Anyone who wanted to hold him got to! Thank you for bringing him in Alyvia and Arica!! Tuesday the 5th we got to watch the Emoji Movie and eat popcorn! On June 6th, we had Field Day in the afternoon. I got some great pictures of our class having fun and working well as a team. Our last day of school, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and draw with chalk on the sidewalk. I'm not sure if you saw the picture I sent home with the kids on the last day of school, but in case you wanted to save a copy or just see how silly our whole class is... here are the pictures we took! That completes my last post of the 2017-2018 school year with your kiddos. I'd like to take a moment to thank you again for your support, encouragement, and understanding throughout the year. I am so thankful that I was a part of your child's journey in 2nd grade and that they were a part of mine. Each child made an impact on me and my life, and I am so very grateful for each and every one of them. Please know that I will ALWAYS want to be a part of your child's life, and will always hold a special place for them in my heart. Enjoy your summer and please stay in touch! :)
Love ~ Mrs. Kattre

Folklore VillageAs the school year is winding down, we have seemed to get busier. On May 18th, the 2nd graders had a field trip to Folklore Village. We got to explore heritage, learn new dances, listen to songs and instruments from different cultures, visit an old school house, and make a ball out of wool. The kids did an amazing job, had a lot of fun, and learned so much! On May 30th, the 6th graders walked from the middle school to Westview to share research papers they wrote for the 2nd graders. Our students got to pick any animal they were interested in, asked 5 questions they wanted to know about the animal they chose, and the sixth graders answered those questions. After they heard the report, the 2nd graders also got to read their research papers they wrote about an animal. On May 31st, the 2nd graders went up to Mrs. Jones' 4th grade class. Her students were practicing for their 'Wax Museum' project. They wrote a report in 1st person perspective of a famous person in history or present day and then dressed up as that person to give their report. They did an amazing job of teaching us new facts about some incredible people! For the last five days of school I decided I needed something to really make the kids excited and motivated and finish out the year strong. On June 1st, we had a Bubbles and Freezie Pop Dahis y. Right after this mess, we went to watch the 4th graders and Mr. W in the dunk tank. BannerRidge FarmsTo finish up the week, we took a trip to BannerRidge Farms. We went to different stations where we learned about taking care of cows, different types of farming machinery, crops, and potatoes. The kids even got to climb into the big farm equipment and watch cows get milked. It was a hot day, but they did really well!!
